NEBRASKA CITY - A pair of three-sport athletes were named as athletes of the year during the Nebraska City High School Awards show earlier this week.
Taylor DeVorss, a volleyball, basketball and track athlete, was named as the Tim Hall Female Athlete of the Year.
Players selected for West All-Star Game at Scottsbluff on June 2SCOTTSBLUFF — Players have been selected for the East and West teams for the 28th-annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game. The 26 members of the volleyball teams were nominated by their respective high school coach and selected by the all-star coaches.

Maddie Haggerty will have an even bigger surprise when she returns to watch a Nebraska volleyball match this season, or plays in one in a few years at the Huskers' new home at the Devaney Sports Center.
The high school sophomore from the Chicago suburban of Glen Ellyn, Ill., told NU coach John Cook on Monday that she'd like to play for the Huskers beginning in 2014.

(seminoles.com) - Facing the departure of four seniors in the 2012 season, the Florida State University indoor volleyball team continues to reload as it added four talented signees who recently inked their National Letters of Intent for the upcoming year.
Head Coach Chris Poole and the Seminole indoor volleyball program added two talented outside hitters in University of Nebraska transfer Taylor Simpson and Western Wyoming Community College transfer Olivera Medic. FSU also signed two proven liberos in Laura Dadowski as well as twin sister Caroline Dadowski.
"We are very excited about adding these four young ladies, along with the great four freshmen we signed in our early signing period," Poole said. "The expectations are very high with the returning players we have and we feel we have been able to fill some holes left over from our graduating class. Our returning players had a great spring and the competition and level of overall play will be significant in practice this fall. We will have a lot of options in August and the summer will be an opportunity for players to make further strides."
Metcalf, Larson named to U.S. Women's National Team preliminary roster for 2012 FIVB World Grand PrixColorado Springs, Colo. - USA Volleyball announced on Monday that former Huskers Jordan Larson and Nancy Metcalf were named to the U.S. Women's National Team Preliminary Roster for the 2012 FIVB World Grand Prix.
The U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team is ranked No. 1 in the world and will reduce the 25-player roster closer to the start of the event on June 8. The team, which has already qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games, will open competition against Germany in a Pool B match in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Metcalf is a 2004 Olympian and a three-time AVCA First-Team All-American at Nebraska. Larson was a three-time All-American who led the Huskers to three NCAA Semifinals appearances.

LINCOLN — Coming to Nebraska from Sweden meant Cecilia Hall had a little harder transition to Division I volleyball than your average Husker recruit.
Upon arrival last July, Hall grappled with a language barrier, had to get acclimated to a faster playing tempo and wrapped her mind around the intensity of taking the floor in front of a packed house at the NU Coliseum.
